Award ticket only if the miles cushion holds

The user asked

Book me on the earliest nonstop from JFK to Toronto on Thursday, May 14 that has economy award space. Pay with miles if I'd still have at least 40,000 miles left afterwards, with the taxes on my personal card. If not, buy a Standard economy fare on that same flight with my personal card instead.
